Hell yeahs!

So I decided to place the parts for a small little diddy that Mr. Joel and myself made last week using only samples of a Casio PT-10. The results were interesting and the message boards fired up with exactly zero hype over our creation due to the fact that I only really gave a Facebook link to it and really didn’t advertise it at all. But it exists and if you head over to here. Long story short we had fun making the song in between eating tacos on a Saturday.

but back to the point. Remix Contest.

By following THIS LINK RIGHT HERE you will find a Zip file (megaupload.. sorry) containing all of the parts of our little song on it. The idea is to do a remix contest. Grand prize…. er… nothing…. as I’ll be putting every single track that is sent to me on this blog right here for everyone to listen to. A little bit of extra exposure for both of us and a useful waste of time. It might just strike something creative in you and if you hate it you can just go back to reading Vanity Fair or something.

Feel free to use the parts in whatever capacity you want as I am far to lazy to unleash my lawyers.

Worst case scenerio. No one participates. Best case. I get flooded with 10 Billion MP3s and crash the internet forcing millions of people to stop fucking around on the internet and jump start the economy.

“Live” Electronic Music?

Ok, today it’s all over the internet about Justice’s MPD24 being unplugged and the facial hair one that smokes all the time not noticing.

Looks something like this.

While it looks like to me that it just came unplugged and it took a minute to notice, it can’t help but spark the debate over what exactly is live electronic music. I’d like to think that for every live act, there’s someone doing something like this.

And, well…. I don’t know what to say about that.

Either way it’s weird that people want to break Justice down so much. It’s pretty obvious to me that they have done a ton to bring Electronic to a commercial level that isn’t corny or cheesy. Sure their not the greatest musicians to walk the earth and even on their own label their not where most of the hype should be going (cough Ozio cough) but damn if their not making kids dance again. That’s what’s really important.

Updates/New Track/Done Moving

First up here’s a new track that I finished. This is a early version but I forgot to save the file after I exported so I’m afraid it’ll never sound quite like this version again. Bellow is the download link for Almost by The Paused.

Other than that it’s been crazy busy just finishing up moving. Were finally moved in and stealing internet from our neighbors just like we should. Plus I’ve managed do deck the basement out pretty well.

On the music front there really hasn’t been much going on for me either. I’ve been listening to the Arcade Fire like crazy. I did get the Mark Farina Fabric in the mail today which is pretty good so far. I’m not the biggest fan of labels like OM but sometimes the house music really does it for me. All things said, Mark Farina is very good at what he does. I prefer him much more in DJ mode than I do in his Mushroom Jazz guise.

Sleepy, I’ll have more to talk about tomorrow.

Nothing really that new to write about today. I’m recovering from a hangover and a sour DJing experience from Saturday.

But I’ve become obsessed with this video enough to post it. These guys were pretty good at Broken Disco and I’m impressed with how good this video is. Insane.

Used Record Seattle Vol. 2

Another trip to Seattle, another small haul of awesome records. Today used tracks from both Easy Street Records & Everyday Music. I’m not going to post the rather large amount of 80s rock that I picked up but I will post the guilty pleasure trance I picked up.

I think my real goal here is to highlight all the awesome music you can get for cheap in this city.

Lawrence – Lowlights From The Past And Future [Mule Electronic] Cost: 3.00

Lawrence makes this lush and delicate techno/deep house that just feels warm. Always worth giving a listen to his work and this track is no different. Comes with a pretty good LoSoul remix as well.

Phil K Presents Y4K Part 2 [Distinctive Breaks] Cost 3.00

Sampler from his 2005 Y4K album, this EP is well worth it for a copy of Lusine’s Slur that does not require you to shell out for the full album on vinyl.

I:Cube – Ding Ding Ding [Versatile] Cost 2.60

First I:Cube release? Fuck Yeah! Great techy find. I:Cube has been a must listen producer for me ever since hearing their take on 99 & A Half.

Do I really need to tell you about this? AMAZING FIND for 2.60. The track so good Sony tried to copy it. If you want to read about the drama head on over here.

Poor man’s The Streets comes out of nowhere and pens a surprisingly good tune about how fickle pop fame can be. Complete with a prett good Ashley Beedle remix.
